Dr Ryuun is an incredible dentist who is warm, reassuring and so gentle. After a bad experience at another clinic that was extremely rough and painful, Dr Ryuun made me feel at ease and made it a completely painless and calm experience. Would highly recommend!
I suffer with some anxiety when having dental work done due to difficulty breathing through my nose, Dr David Cao is so patient and kind to me and over the course of a few visits has made me feel much calmer. He coaches me through the sessions, provides lots of breaks, and always checks in to ensure I am feeling okay - a level of care I have not received from other clinics where my anxiety was often dismissed as being "silly". Very grateful to have found Hawthorn East Dental as I now feel at ease when planning a trip to the dentist which I never thought would be the case.

Dr Ryuun Fujihara is a fantastic and caring dentist. His work is thorough and of the highest standard. He is communicative, friendly and professional throughout. After moving from interstate this was my first visit and this will now be my regular dentist.

Absolutely incredible beautiful people working here and receptionist the amazing dentist who I see is dr ryuun he is incredible good at what he does I have a lot of health problems and a disability but he made my couple trip to the dentist a better visit and less pain and understanding and know what to look for and know what need to be done I use to see a dentist at auburn road he was disgraceful not understanding what I needed or didn’t notice what I didn’t notice that needed to he now I have no pain and is amazing never again will I go to auburn thanks you so much for. Love or hate the dentist, this is the place to go! The entire team is absolutely lovely and every experience I have had with them has been gentle and caring. Dr Fujihara and Anja are both fantastic at what they do and always make me feel at ease. Bonus points for being able to watch Seinfeld on the TV on the roof whilst having work done!
I am the classic patient with a deep fear of dental work. After putting off much-needed work for 7 years, I was left with no option to attend a dentist. After searching and reading reviews for Hawthorn East Dental, I made an appointment. I was absolutely blown away by the empathetic care and expertise of Dr Ryuun Fujihara. He did not minimise the fear I was experiencing and made me feel very comfortable. So much so, work that I would have ordinarily booked in to be done under general anaesthetic, I booked in to have completed in the practice such was my confidence with Dr Ryuun. On the day, my nerves were managed comfortably and worked progressed as I felt comfortable. Dr Ryuun and Jess could not have been more accommodating and the procedure itself was a breeze and over before I knew it. I cannot recommend the team at Hawthorn East Dental highly enough. Their expertise, warmth, modern and welcoming practice are very deserving of the highest recommendation. Special thanks also to Dr David Cao, who made me feel equally comfortable and confident during my visits.
I did a root canal and crown here. I am very happy with my treatment result. Dr David Cao is nice, warm and most importantly super skillful and knowledgeable. I think he is the best dentist I have ever seen.
I used to really dislike the dentist and find it hard to trust their recommendations - and for that reason I've been to quite a few dentists. HOWEVER, Dr David Cao is the BEST dentist I have ever had. He calm and gentle and has an amazing manner. Importantly, the best thing about Dr Cao is that he takes the time to actually explain to you what is going on with your teeth, so you leave feeling empowered to make decisions regarding your dental health, rather than confused. Lastly, the assistants and receptionists are extremely nice and helpful! I highly recommend this practice!

David is the best dentist I have come across. The place is clean, staffs are friendly, the treatment is always pleasant and I have seen huge improvement in oral hygiene for the past two years. Awesome dental ! Nice clean spacious space, they have TV with Netflix on the ceiling to distract little children having their treatment. My son did not even feel anything. The dentist explains everything to me about my son's dental condition and what to do to prevent damage. At the end of the treatment, my son got a little gift that makes his day! Highly recommended !

Great experience here. From the warm welcome of the receptionist to the skill and professionalism of the dentist. The doctor actually took the time to explain my dental health status to me through visual aids ie actual photographs of my teeth. I now feel empowered and accountable for my own dental health. I was not expecting this from just a regular scale and clean. Above and beyond! Highly recommend.
David is a professional and highly knowledgeable dentist with many years experience. Each time I go he always gives sound advice and offers helpful tips to keep teeth in tip top condition. I’ve been coming for about 3 years now and he is still as good as ever.
